Festival of German Film 2026 opens on the Parkinsel
From 17 June to 5 July the Parkinsel once again turns into a grand open-air cinema by the Rhine — the Festival of German Film returns for a new edition.
The Festival of German Film is one of the largest film festivals in the region and, in 2026, once again takes place on Ludwigshafen's Parkinsel. From 17 June to 5 July the city of cinema presents current German productions, premieres and retrospectives under the open sky and in marquees among the old trees of the Rhine island. The programme is accompanied by film talks, award ceremonies and a dining area right on the water. Each year the festival draws tens of thousands of visitors to the Parkinsel and is regarded as a cultural flagship of the city.
